Little Atlas is a free random country picker for curious people. Choose your boundaries, let chance do the rest, and learn a little about somewhere new.
Sources, not guesses
The pool follows the 193 UN member states plus the Holy See and State of Palestine. This is a product scope, not a statement about disputed sovereignty.
Geographic fields use a pinned REST Countries snapshot (repository revision February 25, 2026). Source-listed languages and capital designations are retained; they are not a separate legal audit. Population uses World Bank population observations for 2024 in 194 countries. Vatican City has an undated source value, explicitly labelled.
Source matching was performed September 26, 2026. This is not a real-time population service, and source values may later be revised. Multiple capitals and source conventions are retained rather than silently replaced.
Maps use Natural Earth public-domain data. Small countries may appear as a location marker at this scale. Islands follow an explicit island-country list, including countries sharing islands; Australia is treated as a continent. Transcontinental countries use the first continent listed by the geographic source.
National flowers and foods require a supporting source. Unverified entries are labelled accordingly; that does not mean a country has no national flower or signature food. Official national dishes and representative foods are separate fields. Quick facts are simple observations from the source record.
Country stories & image credits
Country discovery sections contain attributed excerpts from Wikivoyage, shared under CC BY-SA 4.0. Each guide links to its exact revision and contributor history. These community guide excerpts have their own wording and dates; their figures do not replace the atlas statistics. Food descriptions do not establish official national dishes.
Additional source-listed connections come from Wikidata (CC0), only where the retained statement has a cited reference URL. Landscape images are from Wikimedia Commons; each caption lists its creator, source, license and modifications. All excerpts, credits and optimized images are served locally. Gaps remain where sources or image licenses could not be verified.
Illustrated field notes
Japan, Ecuador and Mauritius also have optional visual journeys. Their artwork is AI-generated and prepared in advance. Scenes combine places or objects for learning; they are not maps, photographs, exact viewpoints or evidence for the facts. Read the official sources beside each note. The illustrations and text work locally without a generation service.
Chance, without tricks
Each eligible country has equal probability. Population ranges filter the pool and never weight the odds. Seed previews recreate a filtered draw independently of personal exclusions and history. Share links preserve the exact result list.
